Credit Card Security Measures
Everyday credit card numbers are stolen and used for unauthorized purchases. In order to protect our customers from unauthorized purchases, we use the following security measures.
1. Card Verification Number or CVV2
The card verification number is the 3-digit number located on the back of Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards, and the 4-digit number located on the front of American Express credit cards. This number shows that it is highly likely that the credit card is in your hands and not being used by a thief who has obtained your 16-digit Visa credit card number, for instance. This number is for verification purposes only and will not be stored. The sale will not go through if an incorrect Card Verification Number is used.
2. Billing Address
The Address Verification feature checks the Billing Address information entered against the billing address information from your issuing bank. If this information does not match, chances are much higher that the transaction is fraudulent. This is an excellent measure for making sure that the credit card is being used by the right person. If you are unsure of your billing address, please contact your bank to double check before going through with the sale. The sale will not go through if an incorrect Billing Address is used.
IMPORTANT
It is very important to know that when you click the Submit Payment button, an authorization for the purchase amount is made on your credit card account. This means that these funds are "held" by your bank. The sale is pushed through in a batch process at the end of the day and then your bank processes the purchase information. This process typically takes at least a few business days if not more, depending on the banks involved. If the information entered is not correct, your bank will still retain a temporary hold on the funds even though the actual sale is not processed.
Your bank will hold the funds for approximately 10 business days. For this reason, it is extremely important to enter the correct Card Verification Number and Billing Address on the first try and definitely avoid trying multiple times. If you are unsure of your information, it is very important to contact your bank or check your credit card statement for verification.
